johnlcruise Posted April 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted April 14, 2010 How long does it take to drive from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen? What is the best way to do it? Meeting some friends who are arriving by cruise in Playa
MrCo9 Posted April 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 14, 2010 Do you live in Cancun? Or are you vacationing there? Want to rent a car? Or take a shuttle? The ADO bus is 65 pesos each way, takes about an hour. The highway between Cancun and PDC is highway 307. 42 miles between Cancun and PDC with lots of topas on the road. NoGvmnt Posted April 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2010 The absolutely cheapest way is the colectivo, which are 9-13 passenger vans that leave from the grocery store (mexicana?) across the street from the main (ADO) bus station. The trip takes about 1hr and 15mins because they are picking-up and dropping off other customers along the way. The cost is 30-pesos (about $2.50US) from Cancun to Playa Del Carmen. You can also catch them anywhere along Hwy 307, just stand at the side of the road and they will flash their lights at you and you just stick out your hand and they will stop. MrCo9 Posted April 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2010 Collectivo is the cheapest and you may get the equivalent of your own seat on one. Or for $16 more you can take the bus and be guaranteed your own seat and air conditioning. Renting a car would not be cheap, but it would allow you more flexibility.
