CCress9324 Posted January 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2005 What is your recommendation for mode of transportation to get to the beaches from the pier? Is it that much more costly to travel by taxi as opposed to traveling by bus? What do most cruisers use while in Aruba to get to the beaches from the pier? Please let me know. browndog Posted February 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 16, 2005 We took a taxi from the ship to our location at the north end of the island. This was very easy to do since the people who work at the docks to meet the ships can call for taxis for you if there is not one there already. I thought that the prices were set by the Government for what the taxis charge, but the first taxi that came was going to charge differently (more ) than the taxi we ended up getting in to. There were plenty of taxis to be found to get us back from the north end of the island back to where the ship was docked. We just found the closest hotel and walked out to the front of the hotel and there were multiple taxis waiting to take people. Hope this helps put your mind at ease. wentworth Posted October 13, 2005 #4 Share Posted October 13, 2005 Directly across the main street from the pier is the bus station. The buses run from one end of the island to the other. We rode the bus many times while in Aruba for a week and also took the bus to the hi rise hotels while in port last February. I believe the cost was $1.25.pp
