smoothy Posted August 31, 2010 #26 Share Posted August 31, 2010 We just got back from the Oasis and can vouch for everything in your review. DS7 and DS5 had a great time, loved AO and it was a real fight to get them out of the club the final night (7am disembarcation for a noon flight? yeah right...) Spent $30 on candy at the candy store (fun selection but expensive!) bought them each an at-sea plush friend and picked up a few of the souvenier Coke bottles for the boys to put on their dressers to remind them of the trip. Best stop for our group was at Labadee, we had a suite so were able to rent one of the cabanas and was that worth it! We re-booked for August 2012, same itinerary (except Falmouth in place of Costa Maya) and same cabins.
jlaxelrod Posted September 2, 2010 #27 Share Posted September 2, 2010 Thank you so much for the great review. We are booked on the December 11th Oasis with our DD who will be 9 months at the time. Im excited to hear that they offer both the Nursery as well as in-room sitting. Did you have difficulty with availability for in-room sitters? Where do you go to schedule these? Also, what excursions are best to do with the little ones. We will be on the Western Caribbean itinerary.
javma Posted September 4, 2010 Author #28 Share Posted September 4, 2010 We found that the in room sitters were fairly easy to get with a day or two notice--just go to guest services and they will book them for you. I cna't help you with specific excursions on the Western itinerary as we went on the Eastern itinerary. However, we will be going on the Western itinerary in April 2011 so I am also looking for suggestions! In general, we found that in St. Thomas and St. Maarten the beach excursions worked best for us (although we love the beach in general). Very low key and at your own pace. We brought an inexpensive inflatable "raft" for the baby--the kind that they sit in--and a floatie for our 3 year old (the 6 year old could swim) and it was great. Make sure your bring a small insulated lunch box or cooler for milk etc. for the baby's formula etc. We also walked around St. Maarten with the stoller and that was good, too, as it was very much at our own pace. Have a great trip and make sure to report back on the excursions!
