Nachi Cocom???

We are going to be in Cozumel on 2/16. There are 8 other healthy sized ships in port the same day.

We are strongly considering going to Nachi Cocom for a couple of reasons.

1. I don't believe it is on the cruise ships shore excursion list.

2. We would like to be able to eat and drink w/o having to order the food and pay for it a la carte.

3. House brands don't bother me (Rum is Rum when I'm on vacation).

Having said that...

Those that have been there, I have a couple of questions.

1. Is it clean and do you feel safe?

2. How difficult is it to get a cab back to the ship?

3. Is there a changing area?

4. How was the food?

5. How much time should I give to get back from the beach to the ship?

Nachi Cocom, is typically a bit quieter beach than those on the ship's "list." It's also one that is not widely discussed on the message boards. So, with 8 ships in port it could be a less crowded option than some others.

I'll try to answer your questions.

1.) It is clean and safe. In fact, I don't know of any place on the island where I don't feel safe. Cozumel is a very friendly and safe island. That having been said, don't take any chances with your belongings -- ie., don't leave purses or cameras or other belongings laying around. There are lockers for the safekeeping of your belongings.

2.) Cabs are plentiful.

3.) According to Cozumel Insider's beach chart, Nachi Cocom does have restrooms that are rated as excellent and showers. So, I would assume there is an area where you can change. http://www.cozumelinsider.com/Beaches

4.) Food seemed to be relatively reasonably priced and was of good quality.

5.) Here's info on approximate taxi rates from the piers to the various points of interest on the island: http://www.cozumelinsider.com/Trans. To be safe, I would think 20 minutes to get back into town and to your ship would be ample time.

1. Is it clean and do you feel safe?

Yes.

2. How difficult is it to get a cab back to the ship?

Cabs have always been waiting when I was there/

3. Is there a changing area?

Yes

4. How was the food?

Never tried it

5. How much time should I give to get back from the beach to the ship?

It is about 15 minutes, IF the taxi goes the normal twice the speed limit. I would allow 30 minutes for a conservative estimate.
