gfranzen Posted June 3, 2010 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2010 Is it necessary to reserve in advance for the under the bridges tour? We would prefer to wait and check the weather.
NVCLVR Posted June 3, 2010 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2010 Hi! I took the Under the Bridges canal tour several years ago (2005) and did not need a reservation. The tour leaves quite frequently and the boat seats several people. Your ship's shuttle should take you to an area just outside of Gamla Stan..near the Palace. Its just about a 1/2 block walk to the tour boat office, which is right outside the front of the Grand Hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and plan on taking it again when we return next year! Have a super time!
Harry Cane Posted June 3, 2010 #3 Share Posted June 3, 2010 You answered a question I had. The boat tours leave from near the Grand Hotel, then? For some reason I thought they left from near City Hall. btw, I noticed there were several canal tours. Any particular reason you chose the under the bridges? NVCLVR Posted June 9, 2010 #5 Share Posted June 9, 2010 I had chosen that tour because it was recommended by a co-worker who had spent some time in Stockholm the previous year. They have several different tours offered at that location (outside the Grand Hotel) and I think the Under the Bridges tour was the most comprehensive...went through the locks into the lake and really gave a thorough overview of Stockholm. At each seat is a headset with a choice of a zillion languages..the recordings are timed just right to each site. They also had a cart coming down the aisle with coffee and cakes (extra charge, as I remember..but reasonable). You can go on line & google the Under the Bridges Tour for more information (that's what convinced me to choose that one over the others).
nationaltreasure79 Posted June 9, 2010 #6 Share Posted June 9, 2010 I was looking into the other canal tour-Royal canal tour leaving from the palace in Galma stan. Is this boat canal ride worth going on?
