what does a S&S card look like?

If you loose your s&s card can other guest rack up charges (say the found it or stole it)? Also, do some just bring straight cash and continue to add? I just want to know because if so, I will put smaller amounts and keep adding through out cruise. I know linking to credit card may be the easiest, but I never bring credit cards on out of country vacations. I try to totally budget firsthand so I can totally enjoy the trip.
