Roatan with three-year-olds

Hi, we will be traveling to Roatan on Carnival Dream in September with our three-year-old twin boys. They are awesome swimmers (have been swimming independently since before they were 2), very outgoing and wild (typical boys). We live in Florida and they get bored with the beach after a short time. Any suggestions on excursions for them?

krissim9...I have to smile...You're going on a cruise where all the stops are primarily beach stops. Other excursions are not naturally suited for younger children. But let me make some suggestions and then maybe others with young children can chime in too.

First, in Cozumel, take them to Discover Mexico (you can google it) and let them run around and see all sorts of things on Mexico and they have things for younger children. Then just go across the road to Chankanaab for some beach time.

In Roatan, you might look at taking them to Gumbalinda Park and see its animals and the pirate exhibits. Some will suggest a Rony or Victor B tour, but that might be too costly and there's a lot of driving around involved. Then, assuming it's not too windy and the Dream docks in Mahogany Bay, they can run around a bit on that beach.

Belize might be a good "Camp Carnival" day for them. There's nothing nearby for younger kids. Excusions are all more older children/adult oriented...Mayan Ruins/ cave-tubing/snorkeling et. al...Maybe a Mom-and-Dad-alone excursion day?

In Costa Maya, however, you're stuck with beach. It's either the pool in th eport or cab down to Majahual and wander around the malecon. It's a short stop time wise so sleep in and get off the ship at your leisure.

Sounds boring huh? Well that's life with young'uns until they get a bit older. Once they're up in elementary or middle school age, lots more things will be available to you as a family.
