wedding vow renewal on jewel of the seas

Recommended Posts

My DH and I along with our 3 adult children and 1 son in law will be doing a B2B on the Jewel in March 2006 to celebrate my Half Century. On looking through the RCCL web site we noticed that we could actually renew our wedding vows on board, and as we will also be in our 30th year of wedded bliss we are seriously considering renewing our vows, (especially as our kids will be there)

Can any CC members share there experiences of doing the same or give us any info on it i.e is it a private ceremony or is it a whole bunch of people doing the same, Is there any special days etc when they carry it out. ANY info would be great, the more I think on it the more it appeals to me.

I do hope someone can help with some info.

Many thanks in advance

P.S anyone else cruises at the same time 3/4/06 B2B watch out for the 3 kilted handsome Scotsmen on formal nights !!!

I have arranged for a renewal of vows on our trip on the Jewel in June 2005. Just give a call to Royal Romance and they can send you a brochure. It is a private ceremony for just you and your guests. It is performed by the social director (not the captain) in one of the small rooms on board the ship i.e library and one of the empty salons. You get an hour with the photographer taking shots all of the ship and a cake and champagne. You can also add services if you would like - they are all covered in the brochure.

Hope you do it - I am very excited.

Many thanks Kayak, the more I think on it the more I am convinced that it would be the right thing to do. Do you know if Royal Romance have a web site or e.mail address that I could contact. Due to the fact that we are in the U.K it is sometimes inconvenient to try and call offices in the U.S due to the time difference and also it can become quite costly if the call takes some time.

Are you renewing on the Jewel ? and have you chosen your special area yet or do you leave that up to RCCL. Also do you know if the "bride" makes an entrance to music or anything and if so , does RCCL chose it or do we.

Sorry for asking so many questions but believe it or not I do not know anyone at all who has renewed their vows, so I really dont know what to expect, I just know that it is something that we would love to do and would regret having the opportunity like this and not taking it up.

Thank you so much again for your help and I wish you a wonderful cruise and hope that you and your DH will be blessed with many more happy years together.

Kindest regards from bonnie scotland

Happycruzer,

My husband and I renewed our vows this past fall on the Mariner of the Seas. It was wonderful, just like a real ceremony. On the Mariner, they have the ceremony in the chapel on deck 14. My three daughters were bridesmaids (age 9, 12, and 14) and my 12 year old son escorted me down the aisle. Royal Romance provides a photographer who takes a lot of pictures. The ceremony was very nice and afterward we went to Cloud Nine (deck 13 near the game room) for a private reception. We had both sets of parents there along with our children. We did the traditional cake cutting and toast. Then the photographer took us all over the ship to take wonderful pictures.

Besides what the package offered, we brought along ghiradelli candybars with wrappers that we designed ourselves as favors. They had a formal picture of us from a recent cruise as well as one from when we first met. We also had my hubby's laptop at the reception. I had put together a slideshow of pictures from when we first met until now. My hubby added music that had been special to us through the years and it played along with the slideshow. Don't hesitate to make this special. I wore a beautiful silver beaded gown and my husband wore a suit. They provide you with flowers.

I never had a wedding, we eloped so this was a very special way for us to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Please take the time to do this. You won't regret it.

Nora

Hapycruzer,

There is an e-mail address, but unfortunately I do not have it with me at this time. I can get it and send it tomorrow.

As far as music you can bring your own tape or they will provide the music. We are sailing out of Harwick, England on the British Isle tour in June and I'm not sure which room the ceremony will be performed in. They do not have a chapel so we are at the whim of the cruise ship social director.

They will not perform the ceremony on the first day of sailing or on formal night - so I am assuming we will get one of the sea days.

We are really looking forward to our trip to Scotland - it will be our first visit there and my husband (McEwen) is very excited about his visit. I will get the information and send as soon as possible.

Thanks. Kay

Read that you were sailing on Jewel for the British Isle cruise - when you get back let me know how it went. DH and I are wanting to do that cruise next although it will probably be several years of "saving" before we can manage it but we are very interested. We've both been to Scotland and England but not together! My grandmother was born in Glasgow and came to Ellis Island in NY as an immigrant so we've been to see where she was born, raised, etc. Very interesting but I'm looking forward to returning. BTW - we were on the Jewel in November for her first West Car sailing - beautiful ship, you will have a great time. I noticed you're in Raleigh - we are in Wilson just 40 or so miles east of you. My brother in law and family live off Ridge Rd near Crabtree and both of my daughters' boyfriends are at NCSU soooooo needless to say we spend a lot of time in Raleigh!! Happy sailing!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Since starting this thread I have been posting on another similar thread, Having been in contact with Royal Romance and not been very impressed with their service so far and from the other thread many others feel the same.

Can anyone shine any light at all on the questions that are on the postings and put us out of our misery.

For $400 /$500 I would expect them to at least answer my e.mails/questions but Royal Romance have done neither.

Has anyone actually renewed their vows and can help us all out here .

Love to hear your experiences.

From an old(ish) romantic who really wants to do this

Sandra
