Luckyroot Posted February 9, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 9, 2005 I went snorkeling for the first time on my cruise last summer and I absolutely love it. I've been reading about Snuba......and think that I would really enjoy it. My big problem is timing with the ports of call on my upcoming cruise. I can't find a snuba tour that fits in with everything else we want to see/do. So tell me, is it as much fun as I am thinking it would be? Should I give up swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman so that I can snuba? Would appreciate any info you'd care to share. TIA
Tracy1 Posted February 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2005 I've never done Snuba but I am a certified diver (2003) and have also gone an the swimming with stingray excursion in Grand Cayman. I would not give up a chance to swim with the stingrays while in Grand Cayman. We set up our own excursion with Captain Marvin in Grand Cayman instead of booking the excursion through the cruise ship. We absolutely loved it. It was cheaper than the cruise excursion, had less people, and went to 2 other sites for snorkeling. While I've never done Snuba, I would probably pass up a chance to go Scuba Diving (although I love that) in order to swim with the stingrays. You can do snuba in a lot of other ports but you can't swim with stingrays in a lot of other ports.
Luckyroot Posted February 11, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 11, 2005 Thanks for the reply Tracy. We've decided to swim with the rays (we booked nativeway based on a friend's recommendation). If I can't snuba this trip, oh well, I'll just have to plan another cruise!
