Daytona

We are going on the Pride next year and are toying with renting at car at Port Canaveral and driving to Daytona to check out the speedway. Has anyone ever done this while on a cruise that stops here? I am thinking we have lots of time just wondering about traffic heading north.

Hi diger...I live in DELTONA (which is about 30 minutes west of the speedway). You will have a 45 (or so) minute ride up I-95 to the speedway blvd. exit. The Speedway is currently under re-tracking and will be closed for 6 months. I'm not sure when you plan on being here but the regular speedway attraction WILL be open if the track part is not. You can always check out the speedway then go East on Speedway Blvd. and over to beach side. You can drive on the beach (for $5) and/or go pub hopping. I would be more than happy to give you more info if you ask. Just message me or email me direct at "timh1111@att.net".
