Freeport/Nassau

We're on Fascination and it's in port from 12-7 next Friday. This is our first cruise. Use to doing land based trips and going it alone. Assume that is plenty of time to enjoy Port Lucaya beach on our own as well.

Is this a place that lends itself to snorkling? One in our group will definitely need to be occupied with an activity other than drinking cold Kaliks.

Next day is Nassau from 8am- 10pm. Thinking about Gray Cliff, but what other suggestions? Anywhere we can get on a beach with a cold Kalik and relax is at the top of our list.

thanks!!

Hi there,

In Freeport, Lucaya Beach is about 20 minutes from where the ship docks by van (they have little vans that drive up to the ship and will take you to the beach and shopping area across the street for about $10 US or so per person). When we were there last year that's exactly what we did, we took a little van, walked around the shopping area at Lucaya Marketplace a bit, and went for a swim on the beach. We didn't buy a hotel day pass or anything, we just wore our swimsuits under our clothes, walked to the beach and swam. There was watersports equipment for rent on the beach and we even saw people parasailing! The hotels on the beach have bars and such so finding the Kalik shouldn't be a problem ;-). There is also a large casino in the hotel; we just peeked in since we're not gamblers but it was pretty busy, and very cold in there! When we were done exploring we caught the van back to the ship; we had to wait about 20 minutes or so until they were full before they left but otherwise that was simple and not a problem.

In Nassau, we went to Atlantis but you need to pay the entrance fee to use their beach, so that's pretty expensive. The public beach is called Cable Beach but we haven't been there so I can't tell you much about it.

Have a great trip!
