yogagal47 Posted August 28, 2010 #76 Share Posted August 28, 2010 If you have the premium drink package and you wish to have a glass of wine that costs more than 12$ we were told that we would have to purchase the entire glass-not "pay the difference." Our group thought that seemed foolish as Celebrity could make money charging the "upgrade amount" for drinks beyond the price of the package but most package holders would simply opt not to pay the full charge for the more expensive drink since they have already paid $55.00 a day. Interesting reflection, "yogagal47." I agree with you that "Celebrity could make money charging the 'upgrade amount'" -- but only if they could do it in a way that would be easy on their staff, their computer programs, and their "books." I suspect that they have decided to keep an already complex, multi-faceted system as simple as possible. In other words ... -- They may not want to have waiters, bartenders, sommeliers, etc., computing the "upgrade amount" and posting it to passengers' accounts. -- They may not want to deal with paying for the new computer programming that would be required, and we all know that computer programs sometimes fail. (New programming would require discussion, analysis, coding, testing/debugging, and installation in many venues.)
