Ziplining-where is best place?

My husband and I are thinking of doing a zipline. Our December cruise is going to Barbados, Antigua and St. Lucia. We are in our 50's and not buff by any means. Would we still enjoy it? Thanks for any insights you can offer!

To the best of my local knowledge

there's only one place on the island of Barbados

where ziplining is available, and it is within Jack-in-the-Box Gully

and/or on the lands of a central highlands plantation bordering that gully.

 

The name of the pltn. is Walkes Spring (in the parish of St.Thomas)

I just did my first and last zipline this summer in Deep Creek, Maryland. I am 52 and not buff as you put it. While it is not as strenuous as some activities like white water rafting, it's not just an easy ride. If you have any back issues, it's a definite no. If you have any fear of heights or think you'd have issues with the thought of stepping off the platform, it's a no. I was fine on the platforms, but was petrified every time I had to step off.

 

I don't want to scare you off; I just wanted to point out some of the realities. Overall I was glad it I did it, but feel no need to ever try it again.

Honey, you got your numbers all mixed up!! Ziplining is for people aged 25 -not 52. :D

 

Heck I'm sixty and wouldn't go near the thing -other than to take pics of the whole setup for y'all..

OK-that is useful. DH has had back problems in the past and I am not thrilled with heights. That said, I tried parasailing a few years back in Hawaii. We both like to push our envelopes, but I am not certain a bad back was the souvenir we planned to return with. Thank you for your help. We'll ponder it some more.

Age is just a number! Being 52 means we have better insurance! :-)
