IMHO Cozumel, hands down... not as much hassling from the locals, cleaner and more variety. There are some lovely beaches on Coz and great little restaurants if you don't want the "Carlos 'n Charlies" type atmosphere. The beaches near the port area in Ocho aren't that good IMHO. We like the "off the beaten path" beaches in Coz as opposed to the more commercialized ones like Paradise Beach but if you want more party type atmosphere and lots of "stuff" that might be for you
