mid priced safe, hotel in Tampa

I need to find a safe, clean hotel in Tampa for my nephew. He will be flying into Tampa to cruise on Carnival. He will be getting in late, so sightseeing is not an option. Can anyone help me? Shuttle from airport to hotel, and shuttle or cab to pier a plus. I saw several listed here but it sounded like they were mostly 70 to 100$ for the cheapest. I think his budget would be more likely $50-60 .

If anyone could help me I sure would appreciate it.

If he's staying around the airport, it is safe compared to other areas.

Look at this site for reviews at: http://www.tripadvisor.com in the Tampa section. If you start going below $60, you can get plenty of seedy places-Tampa has plenty of those.
