Referral credit

I've seen something about Referral credits for onboard credits in other threads (e.g. used in conjunction with the stockholder credit). There's a thread on another line about how it works, but I'm not sure if CCL is the same. We're about to embark on our first cruise on CCL in November and are interested in finding out more about Referral Credits.

 

We're also thinking about purchasing 100 shares of CCL apiece (since we've booked two staterooms with two booking ID's to hold the family). That would give us another $100 apiece of onboard credits.

 

How do the CCL referrals work? Does anyone have any to give away?
