Mismaloya Beach Resort

Has anyone been to Mismaloya Beach on thier own? How far is it from the port and how much would taxi fare for 2 people be? Do they offer a day pass for cruise ship visitors? Is the beach and resort nice?

We used to go to Mismaloya regularly when it was a private resort and loved it. After they changed over to all inclusive it went downhill IMO. It is about a 35 min ride from the Malecon area. There is a regularly scheduled bus which is inexpensive and drops you right at the gates. Can't remember what a cab costs but it is not expensive. Never visited as a cruise ship passenger so can't answer about the day pass, but you can contact the resort by email. The beach used to be quite nice, but at one time was almost entirely washed away, although I understand it was restored to it's original condition. Hope this helps.

If you do a "forum search" for Mismaloya you will pull up a number of threads that talk about the resort and immediate beach area.

General consensus is 45 minutes travel time via taxi each way, 250 peso taxi fare each way, 440 peso partial day pass (9-5).

A number of people indicate they no longer go to the resort since it has a new owner & converted to All-inclusive. They still go to the area but spend their day at a local beach restaurant/bar. One person said the current cost for a day pass at the resort is $75 USD's.

Do the search and you will get additional information.

Enjoy!

We stayed at a house in Mismaloya in August of this year - we walked to the beach - IMO it is not a great beach - There is a Barcelo all inclusive hotel there and not much else - we rented a boat and went touring to las animas beach for 5 or 6 hours but I don't think the cruise schedule would allow for enough time for this.
