Seasick between Seattle & Sitka? Shore Excursions?

Has anyone gone from Seattle to Sitka on the west side of the islands on the Dream and gotten seasick? After reading about the rocking on the Dream, it is worrisome. I will be going on the 10-day Alaska cruise on May 30.

Also, the Alaska shore excursions seem extremely expensive. Does anyone have suggestions for booking one's own and saving some $$?

Thanks for any info you can give me.

If you've read this BB, then you know most tell you to try and book your own excusrsions and you will save some money. If you want to 'fly' anywhere on excursions (helicopter or floatplane) there is no way that it won't be expensive. Most feel it is well worth the price for the experience of it all.

If you just want to go out and see /alaska and not fully experience it, then there are plenty of hiking trails, walking tours and just some plain sightseeing tours around the towns and cities. What is expensive to one is cheap to another. We met peole who didn't spend anything oon tours and had the greatest of times just being in alaska. There are many here who can suggest particular tours that may be inexpensive. Juneau is one city where you can get away cheap. the bus to Mendenhall is $5.00 each way. The Mt Roberts tram is very inexpensice and you can hike for hours once at the top.

You do NOT have to spend a lot of money to experience alaska. It helps, but as they say, to each it's own.

Yes most certainly you can encounter rough sailing ANYWHERE in Alaska. I highly recommend precautions to anyone prone to seasickness. Look over your shore excursion list and narrow down your interests. I do believe the tours to be completely worth the cost and alway have a full budget for my touring. If a desire- then strongly consider it.
