Condition of water after Hurricane Paula

We were there on Thursday, right after Hurricane Paula skirted by. The water was beautiful blue, but choppy enough that scuba and snorkle tours were cancelled. The water seemed to clear up very quickly.

We have been there in past years when the water was very murky looking and visability was down. Guess it all depends on how long the weather has been bad and when you get there.

Having been on island for other near miss hurricanes, (Ivan). The water quality was messed up for a number of days, especially on the very southern dive sites. But it cleared up nicely within a week. You won't be able to tell anything happened in three weeks.

Have fun

We were just there Friday. The water was beautiful and warm all over except the 10 yards or so closest to our beach. We took the Isla Pasion by Twister excursion which took us to the island beach by speed boat. The 10 yards closest to beach was somewhat dirty yet still cleaner than most of what we have in the US. I just jumped in and waded out past it to swim. We loved Isla Pasion and I'm sure most beaches on the island are similar. The beaches will likely recover quickly.
