FLYER411 Posted November 7, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Last time we cruised we sailed out of Miami, My question is if you have early seating will you miss going under the bridge out of Tampa? Just wandering how long it is from port, we didn't exactly leave port at 4:00 last time for what ever reason just wandering.

JDCMN Posted November 7, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2010 It takes about 2 - 2 1/2 hours to get to the bridge so depending on what time the ship leaves, you'll reach it around 6:00 - 6:30. If you're really excited about seeing the ship the bridge, you may want to eat in the buffet that night. It really is awesome to see!

*Mach* Posted November 7, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2010 We passed under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge at 6:15... very much in line with what everyone else has mentioned. It's a great way to mark the beginning of the voyage... :)

CorbinCatFan Posted November 7, 2010 #7 Share Posted November 7, 2010 It's quite an experience. We've done it twice, once in December in the dark and once in June. I'd recommend getting to the top deck to experience it. Going under. Now the cruise begins.:D
marym933 Posted November 7, 2010 #8 Share Posted November 7, 2010 I hadn't thought about the bridge at night. It is lit with yellow lights. That should be awesome in January!
LPLRN Posted November 7, 2010 #9 Share Posted November 7, 2010 We've gone under the bridge many times and always made first sitting, we got there a little late but it being the first night it didn't seem to matter. We made sure to go down the stairs closest to our dinning room.
cmtom89 Posted November 7, 2010 #10 Share Posted November 7, 2010 On October 24th, we passed under the Sunshine Skyway Bridge around 6:45pm. We live nearby and will watch from land, but it is amazing to go under and see how close you really are. I had to wonder if the Highway Patrol Officer standing on the bridge gets tired of cruise ship passengers excitedly waving to him as we go under. Hope they rotate that guy out once in a while! :)
