Cruise Care and Non refundable airfare

We were supposed to fly out tom and start our RCL cruise on sunday but we had to cancel as our son has fallen ill suddenly. :(

My question for people who have used Cruise Care (through RCL) is how do you get a refund for airfare? Our air tkts (booked through Expedia) were non refundable but when we canceled, we got a credit towards future use. Does that mean Cruise Care won't refund our original tkt price? We will not be using the credit anyway because the rebooking fees are atrocious and costs almost double the total credit amt.

I will call them tom morn to confirm but was just wondering if somebody has done this before?

It will help to know that we won't be losing money on top of our planned holiday.
