Formal Nights

It seems that almost all, if not all, cruises have their first elegant night on Night 2. The 2nd one seems to vary. Someone who has done your itinerary on that ship would be the only ones to know for sure. For us, it's always been either Night 5 or 6 (certainly not Night 7).

 

And they do refer to them as elegant, and not "formal" anymore. Plenty of people will still go all out, but it's more accepting now for those who don't want to go all out. I forgot my button-up shirt last cruise (don't know how I remember anything), so I went to elegant night in a nice polo shirt, khakis, & nice shoes. No problem, noone gave me dirty looks.
