skiorcruise Posted January 1, 2011 #27 Share Posted January 1, 2011 Don't forget shipboard safety. It's easy for newbies to forget that ships move. Hold handrails on stairs, etc. Wash hands often - avoid illness. Depending on the children's ages, teach them the rule I taught my grandchildren - first rule on a ship is don't climb on the railing. Finally, they are in a strange place with lots of people - Odd things can and do happen. Take the same personal precautions you would in a hotel / on the streets in a strange city. Mostly remind them that this is a vacation. Attitude makes it right or wrong, depending on your attitude. Hey, one more. Introduce them to Cruise Critic. Have them read through many reviews and posts. They will come up with more questions to ask you. On our first cruise, I knew about the Carnival Capers - one of my cabin mates did not. She spent most of her time (and money) in the casino. After we got home, she asked one night how I knew how to find "all the fun stuff I did". We were both on the same ship, but had very different vacations.
MSRussell Posted January 2, 2011 #28 Share Posted January 2, 2011 How I envy you, seeing a cruise for the first time though their eyes. I had my sis in law with me on my last cruise, her first, and her delight made my cruise more enjoyable. Melanie
