Xunantunich with cruise ship or Lamanai on own

Ok- I am still struggling with booking my own tour to Lamanai in Belize due to time constraints. Carnival JUSt put up a Xunantunich tour from the ship . Do we do the ships tour or our own to Lamanai? My hubby wants tot Lamanai trip due to the boat trip part- and I agree but really dont want to have to worry the whole time. Is Lamanai THAT much better than Xunantunich?
