Is it worthwhile to book a cruise on a cruise

I will be taking a cruise in May and I know for sure I will be booking another one next May - my question is...is there any benefit to booking a cruise while you are on a cruise? Do you get any kind of deal? Am I better just to get the FCC's? Any input would be much appreciated.
