Troy86 Posted February 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2011 Hi there, can anyone tell me how long its taking to tender in Grand Cayman, if you are not on a Celebrity excursion? I am considering a private tour, but we would need to leave the ship soon after it arrives in George Town? Thanks, Noel
ian67 Posted February 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 2, 2011 The actual tender journey takes about 10-12 minutes - if the vessel anchors near where we anchored on the Equinox (Dec 09). We booked a walking tour - the cheapest available to avoid delays getting ashore.
Troy86 Posted February 3, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Ian, I actually meant the time waiting aboard the ship to tender if you did not book an X excursion, not the time the tender takes. Sorry for the confusion. Noel

Sorry for the confusion. Noel Well, there are lots of variables in regards to how long you wait before you get on a tender...how many people are hoping to get on ahead of you, if you book a suite, you will get priority, if the weather is lousy (ie. windy), you might be anchored on other side of island and have to be bussed into Georgetown...there really isn't a set time in regards to how long you will wait
eandj Posted February 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 3, 2011 Alicam is correct. Plus all passengers booking ship excursions tender first. So if lots have to meet those exc. you will wait longer. You have to go pick up a ticket and wait till your number is called. There are tenders running quite often and they hold probably 175 people if not more, so the wait isn't more than 10 min at most between tenders. And after the first few tenders, they will call many numbers at once to fill the boat. If your excursion operator is a regular, they will know the process and wait until you are there. They ARE looking for your money.;) Have a leisurely breakfast and leave the ship after the rush if your tour itinerary allows for that. Say 10:00?
