Avoid low currency rate.

I always use a credit card to pay my onboard account.

I use a credit card "santander ZERO" that does not charge you for using it abroad. I make sure that the cruise line bills me in dollars. This means the credit card company converts my bill from $'s TO £'s and not the cruise line.

This will save you pounds on your bill. I was given a rate of $1.58 to the pound on my January 2011 cruise with RC. I bet RC rate would have been in the low $1.40's region.
