Is it OK to bring your own soda/pop or water onboard?

Last year, we were successful (and smart!) in packing a case of bottled water in our carry-on before we boarded our (not Carnival) cruise.

 

Has anyone run into problems bringing pop or bottled water in their carry-on luggage on Carnival cruises?
