Goldens4 Posted March 22, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 22, 2011 I noticed that they also have a pool on Deck 5 (same as Odyssey and Sojourn). Is this open every day and do they have facilities for adult beverages on this deck? I'm aware that Deck 8 has the Pool Bar and Grill; just curious about Deck 5's pool. Thanks!!!!! Also, if you have a Suite on Deck 5, how is the "motion of the ocean" in these suites? Thanks!!!!!:D
Rare clarky Posted March 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2011 Goldens4, We have been on deck 5 on the Odyssey which I believe has the same layout as the Quest. We have been in cabin 536 and cabin 522 and both were great. You actually get less motion in the ocean sensation than on higher decks as long as you are mid ship. Do remember that the balcony is only partial glass. As we are not huge balcony users this is not important to us but could be to some passengers. The pool on deck 5 is my favourite area to hang out and relax. Yes, they do have a waiter who comes around regularly and offers drinks from the bar. There are the two spas and a plunge pool. I like the pool on deck 5 as it has more shading (although it is not huge). I also like the Bali beds that are shaded in this area. Deck 5 also has a laundry which is very convenient. If you can, request cabin 536 as the sofa is very comfortable as it folds out to a sofa bed and you are mid ship. Hopes this helps.
Goldens4 Posted March 23, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted March 23, 2011 Thank you so much. You answered all my ?. We use the balcony just for coffee in the AM and cocktails before dinner.
S&G@C Posted March 24, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Clarky We have recently booked room 534 on the Sojourn. You mentioned a partial glass balcony. Would you please describe this? In what way is it obstructed? Not sure if we need to move up as my husband's idea of a great vacation is sipping bourbon while watching the surf on the balcony! Thanks... tayl Posted March 24, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Hi S&G@C, We were in suite 534, on the Odyssey. We loved the mid ship location. The balcony was fine. It's part metal, and you can see everything from a sitting position. When in bed, you won't be able to see the ocean, below the metal part, but you still have decent viewing. Normally, we like a higher floor, but thoroughly enjoyed our location. The club, casino and the small pool (which we really enjoyed),was just down the hall! S&G@C Posted March 24, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks Tayl...we had our TA check on moving us up to another room but all was booked except for suites close to bow. I am sure we will enjoy the trip in 834...can't wait as this is our 1st Seabourn cruise!
Rare clarky Posted March 24, 2011 #9 Share Posted March 24, 2011 S&G@C, I see you have an answer to your question about the balcony. We have also had a cabin on deck 8 but honestly I prefer deck 5. As I mentioned if you do use your balcony a lot or like your husband really like to have a uninterrupted view a higher deck would be better.
