Just back from the Miracle 3/27-4/4

We got home this afternoon after basking for 8 days in the Southern Caribbean. Overall, it was a great cruise; we love this class of ships! If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer any that I can. The down side for me was that I lost in the casino...but DH won, so that basically evened out.

The most interesting thing that happened was that DH couldn't find his bag in the VIP section this morning. Long story short, I saw it on someone's cart that had about 12 bags on it, and it was on the bottom. When he went over to see if it was his, they rudely told him it was not...but it was, so he took it. They didn't even apologize! Obviously they hadn't checked the luggage tag right on the handle -some people are amazing!

One of the things I had read about on these boards did happen on this ship, and I've really never noticed it much before. During the "lunch hours," it was sometimes difficult to get a table on the Lido deck because there were LOTS of people just sitting reading or playing cards at those tables. There are places to do that all over the ship, so why they chose there, I can't understand, but it definitely happened. Weird, I thought....

Also, something I always notice - no dress code is ever enforced - except at breakfast...saw someone turned away at breakfast for wearing a sleeveless shirt, but at dinner, even on "elegant night," anything goes...We were the best dressed family there, so we got a prize - we got to eat for free every night:)

That IS funny...

Here's another story...as I was in the elevator this morning going from the dining room back to my cabin, another passenger on the elevator was complaining to her friends that she hates eating breakfast in the dining room because they don't have anything to eat that she likes! That made me wonder...what exactly does she eat for breakfast? It seems to me that they have every possible breakfast item available...unless she likes doughnuts:)

On our 3/19 cruise on the Miracle one of our tablemates sort of dressed up, he had on a sport coat, dress pants, and tie and crocks on his feet!!! I thought that was quite funny!!

I am going to triple check I have all my shoes so this doesn't end up happening to me! I can only imagine my black cocktail dress with a pair of tan crocs :p

Did you go to any of the shows? If so, how were they? Glad to hear you had a good time!

Yes, I love going to the shows. Welcome Aboard - same show as usual - okay, not great;

the 2 major production shows - "Ticket to Ride" and "Generations" - were both very good. We had seen both before; "Ticket to Ride" several times, in fact. "Singin' with the Big Band" stars Christopher Alan Graves (I think) - I had seen him before, too. He sings Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis, Jr. songs; he's very good. I saw Marcus Monroe - a comedian/juggler; he was okay, not great. He's a good juggler and funny, but juggling for an hour? That's tough. We saw a ventriloquist (I forget his name at the moment - let me know if you want it, and I'll look it up) that was no Jeff Dunham, but he was still good. His "dummy" is named Simon, and he was funny! I really laughed at him. The Legends show was the same as always, but on this particular cruise, the talent level was not where I've seen it on previous cruises. They should choose on talent, not audience applause, in the auditions. I'm not a huge fan of comedy, so I didn't go to any of those. Oh...do you know about Carnival Quest? This is the first time I've seen it on a Carnival ship; I've seen it on RCCL previously. It was exactly the same as it was on RCCL; I would have thought they would have changed it a little, but they didn't. I didn't participate...it is definitely for adults, and if you're easily offended, don't go.

Hope this helps!

This does help, thanks! I have never been on a cruise, so I will have nothing to campare the shows to. My husband is very excited about "Ticket to Ride" because he is a HUGE Beatles fan!

As you can see by my signature, I just love the Miracle. The shows, Generations and Ticket to Ride are a must see. We went to the comedy shows (adult) and never laughed so hard. BUT if you are offended with language, then go to the earlier shows. The ventilquist that we saw, was also very funny.

You should at least experience the Steakhouse for one night. It does cost 30.. extra but we think it is well worth it. The steakhouse had a contest with the chefs (or learn how to cook in Jan) we watched several chefs make their dishes and then the entire audience got a sample of some of them.

Have fun and enjoy your cruise...

What exactly is Carnival Quest?

Ahh-Carnival Quest....

Not for the shy and not for the easily offended-a team game where teams (groups of people sitting together) are asked to produce various items and do very "interesting things".

Definitely R rated.

When you go to see Ticket to Ride, be sure to go early, they show a fab video of the boys before the show, at least 15 minutes before the show.

Depending upon where you want to sit, you need to arrive AT LEAST 30 minutes before the show starts. We went 30 minutes before Generations started, and we were not able to get a seat in the middle section. We went 45 minutes before Ticket to Ride, and there were at least 40 or 50 people there already.

We had one of best cruises ever on the Miracle (southern) in December. The entertainment was great. However, we have heard that recent cutbacks have eliminated the pop/dance band evening venue. Is this true?

No, it's not true. After reading about the entertainment cutbacks, I was pleasantly surprised on the Miracle. The "big band" was 9 pieces, and the 4-person Filipino band played most of the week in a club. There were solo entertainers - 3 different ones, I think - the 2-piece calypso band, and the piano guy.

Hi,

We were also on this cruise, we saw a man turned away from the dining room 2nd formal night. They allowed his wife in and he went and changed into long pants, still not formal but better than shorts.

With the Chef's Table on Miracle, I heard that champagne and apps were held in a tight corner of the galley and not that enjoyable. Did you find that to be true?

How was the food overall? Mongolian grill on board?

Thanks!

I don't know anything about the Chef's Table, so I can't answer that one. I thought overall the food was very good. I have never before ordered a steak in the MDR because I didn't think it would be good, but I tried it this time, and it was very good! It's not the Mongolian grill as on the Dream, but there is an Asian station every day.

We had YTD, so maybe they were more relaxed there, even on formal nights. We saw shorts, jeans, and TONS of flip-flops on formal nights.

I am so excited for my cruise! I have heard great things about the Miracle. We are hoping to go to an adult comedy show at least once (we will have DS8 so hopefully he will go to Camp Carnival for the extra $$ at night). I have also heard the steakhouse is amazing. We are looking into a cruise for next year so I think we will wait until then to try it. Thanks for all the information.

I'm sure my husband will be the first one in there. . .waiting. . .waiting. . .lol.

We did the Chef's Table on the Miracle in February. You are in the Galley for apps and champagne, but are also stationed around a stainless steel counter/table so the drinks/plates can be put down....you don't have to balance a plate/glass.

No Mongolian grill, but DH loves Asian food and thought the Asian food station at lunchtime was very good.

Have fun...love the Miracle!

I'm glad to hear you had a great time, we are leaving on the Miracle June 7th.

Do you have copies of the Carnival Capers? I'd love to see what the activities are everyday before we go. I'm wondering what the kids will have for activities also, but can't remember of they're on the same newsletter or a separate one.

Thanks so much,

Someone had already posted the Fun TImes on here somewhere; I had downloaded and looked at them, but I've deleted them now that we're back. You could do a search. I have the ones from our trip, but I don't have time to scan them in. If you have specific questions, I could answer them, though. Try the search.
