Please tell me about embarkation...

Recommended Posts

We're scheduled to board at 11:30. I plan to to head to the Windjammer until the room is ready. What happens after that?

I suspect that unlike the Love Boat, there will not be confetti, streamers, and people waving to us as we leave port, but how does it go exactly?

There could be people waiving at you when leaving port, depending on where you embark from. The larger ports have so many cruise ships that it is not the novalty it once was.

After your trip to the windjammer, you should be able to get into your room. You will get some reading material on your bed to look at and then want to explore the ship. It is a good idea to check on dining arrangements, to see your table so that you can change if you do not like it. Also book any shore excursions or speciality restaurants that you did not do before. There may also be some spa times that fill up quickly, so book them as well.

When you luggage arrives, you can unpack and you must go to the muster drill about 30 minutes before sailaway. Most people go on deck to watch the sail away, when the captain usually blows the horn and off you go.

I suggest you use your time after boarding to explore the ship after lunch and even take a swim if you like. Sometimes the cabins aren't ready until after 2 p.m. and your luggage may not arrive until much later. As a result, we always bring a small carry-on on beach bag on board with anything we might need until then, like a bathing suit, sun screen, etc. Have fun!

:cool:After Windjammer, it is best to explore, or like another poster said, check dinner reservations. Please do not stay in Windjammer after eating while waiting for your room. There are only so many tables, and everyone boarding is trying to eat. There are many more beautiful places to sit and wait until your room is ready. If you are a drinker, I have a welcome aboard drink, tip the waiter well the first time. He will remember you and take care of you afterward LOL:cool:JACK IS SAILING IN 12

Figure out the elevators. Which one(s) go to MDR, Windjammer, Solarium, spa, Viking Crown Lounge, Schooner Lounge, theater, casino. What are the good decks for going from elevator to elevator. If your departure includes sailing under a bridge, the Viking Crown Lounge is a great place to be when that happens. Which deck is your MDR.
