No, it is not necessary to book the Totem Village Excursions. You can get to all 3 Totem Pole Parks in town (Saxman Native Village, Totem Bight State Historic Park, and Potlach Park) by City Bus for $2/person round trip.

 

Saxman Native Village charges an entry into the park, I believe is $3-$5 per person. If you're going without a tour, be sure & download the Totem Description & Map that is found here.

 

Totem Bight State Park is right beside Potlach Park, both located North of town by about 9 miles or so. Again, if you're going without a tour, be sure & download the Totem Map & descriptions here.

Hi,

As some have suggested, we took the public bus to Totem Bight. We enjoyed walking around, looking at the totem poles and we were able to enter the clan house.
