tassie cruiser Posted June 14, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2011 Hi all we are going to be on the Pacific Sun in Perth for a 3 day wine and food cruise, not really sure what that means,I know it sounds obvious but not quite sure whats on offer.Would anyone be able to tell me what will be happening,I am assuming maybe some wine tasting or the like. Thanks Hi there. We just did a 3 day food and wine cruise out of Bris on Pacific Dawn.. It really wasnt much diff to normal cruise.. Once you board, in your cabin was the pacific daily and a food and wine booklet of what was on where for the next 3 days. Each event that was in there was in different venues and they all had a charge attached. There was different wine tastings, prices varied but average was about $18. We did not attend any of these so cant tell you what went on.Everything else was as usual, eg..shows, activities etc.... On the last night there is a 7 course degustation dinner in the dining room (make sure you book early as many of us missed out, even though we tried to book the night before, was still booked out) I did notice that staff etc.. were much more relaxed, eg.. the safety drill, they were not that fussed on if you went or not, there were people wandering around ship, we actually stayed in our cabin and watched it on tv..lol) In saying that I noticed that the cabin staff werent that fussed either, very rarely saw them, maybe it was just a coincedence but it was the first time in many cruises that the cabin stewards and wait staff werent bending over backwards to please.. The second night was formal night with the photographers out and about, The shops were all open, could buy duty free cosmetics, perfumes etc.. but not alcohol. Casino was open as normal. Hope I have helped a bit, if you have any queries, please ask.... Fiona:)

Debsta Posted June 22, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 22, 2011 I'm thinking of booking this as I'll be in WA for a wedding, so why not combine it with a shorty cruise :D My question is about the casino though. I don't think it will be open on a 3 day cruise out of WA. I believe they recently relaxed the casino law but I'm sure I read that the casino won't open on "nowhere cruises". Can someone confirm this?

Can someone confirm this? Hi Debsta, I take mum on a few 3 nighters throughout the year. We will be on Dawn Aug 3 from Brisbane. As luck would have it our handicap cabin is outside the Casino..woohoo. It's the same for Dawn and Jewel and we love it. Now to answer your question, yep the Casino is open on 3 nighters. Usually opens about 3 hours from sail away and stays open 24 hours. Last cruise (Feb) I was the only one in there at 3:00am and won $1600 on a free spin...yep had to run around to find a staff member to cash out. The Jewel was paying really well and paid for my cruise....actually I think the last time I was on Dawn and came home with a nice little surplus. Hope this helps :)
