sadiecat Posted June 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted June 26, 2011 We booked a cruise on the Epic and for the first time used the military discount. Do they actually ask to see your DD214 when boarding?
andersonrm Posted June 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2011 We booked on our August Carnival cruise using the military discount, as well. We had to fax my DD214 directly to Carnival. I called to follow up a day later to confirm that they had received it. We were told that this had to be faxed within 72 hours of booking in order to receive the discounted rate. patseacruiser Posted June 27, 2011 #3 Share Posted June 27, 2011 You are advised to bring proof of whatever discount you used - AARP, union card, dd214. Will they ask for it? It's a crap shoot. I have seen the letters for minors asked for and my parents have been asked for their military ID. Luckily he is retired navy and always has his military ID on him so that was acceptable. I wouldn't leave it home just because someone says they might not ask.
andersonrm Posted June 27, 2011 #4 Share Posted June 27, 2011 If you are asked to fax a copy of your DD214, I would black out your social security number and any other sensitive information.
GeeDunk Posted August 7, 2011 #5 Share Posted August 7, 2011 There is a Form on the Princess WebSite that can be printed out. (Use Search -- Military OBC) Make a copy of your DD 214; fill in the Form and have your TA Fax to Princess. I always have my TA Fax in the Form & DD 214 when I book my Cruise. There is a rumor that Princess will keep the info on file; so future Faxes will be unnecessary.

Do they actually ask to see your DD214 when boarding? With Princess Cruise line you or your TA submit a copy of your DD-214 and it's then on file. You do not have to show it when boarding so you can keep it safe at home.:D:D
