Ruby Princess casino questions

I've searched but can't seem to find an answer to this one...I haven't been on Princess in a while...

Are there $5 Blackjack tables in the casino? If so, only one, or a few? How big is the casino? Do they have some cool penny slots there? I love some of the animated ones, but I haven't found the ones I like on the Carnival ships lately.

Thanks.

Pia have you been on the Crown lately (sorry I can't follow "Pia's Adventures in Wonderland" without a program :) )? We sailed on her 9 months ago and are due for a TA in 8 weeks.

If so, did you notice whether the standard height blackjack table (the one right next to the Poker Pro) was the only $5 table, as it was when we were there? Reason I'm asking is that Jo would much prefer to play at one of the low tables where she can wheel her scooter right up to the table and play, being somewhat uncomfortable sitting on a chair at a high table. All the low tables were $10 and up, and not too many players. The combination of only a couple of players and the $10 minimum, plus the fact that the dealers were murdering everyone, was a triple whammy!

Have a good weekend and Shalom. Andy

With the emphasis of being a top cruiseline, I feel Princess sorely lacks in the selection of slot machines in the casino! Now I know where the machines go that are mercifully taken away from our native American casinos -- they are sold to Princess! Each cruise we embark (and we've been on 19 -- all Princess) we are so hopeful that the casino will have at least some of the newest machines we've played at our local casinos. But no. We are still forced to play the Cash Crop, Money to Burn and X Marks the Spot machines that were popular 10 years ago. I must admit our most recent cruise (Caribbean Princess) had the Quick Hit machines but they were in much demand by our fellow cruisers. I'm not even getting into the fact that the machines have a very low payoff onboard. That's an entirely different post!

Sorry Andy, haven't been on the Crown in several years. And unless I knew in advance to look for it, I probably wouldn't have noticed or remembered the table heights. Our next ships are the Ocean and Pacific. Anything on those you want me to check?

Thanks anyway. No plans for either of those two right now. Crown nd Ruby next in line. The year after? Depends on itineraries which wont be out for 8 months or so.

I'd also ask if it is standard blackjack? The last Princess ship I was on was Saphire and they had some form of blackjack that removed all the Queens from the deck but allowed you to surrender at anytime. Never heard of that version before (or since). I just played standard strategy, but it'd be nice to know if there is any odds adjustment if they are playing a particular version of a game.

When we sat down at a standard Blackjack table, DW asked the dealer what "Fun 21" was. Before he could answer, I said "blackjack with a higher house advantage." The dealer smiled. modded and laughed. As the Wizard of Odds points out, avoid these "cutesy" variants... stick with the standard and play good basic strategy.

I would talk to the "pitt boss". There is no reason why they can't make the high table the $10 table and the low one the $5 game. I've seen tables switch denomination throughout the night (usually higher!). If they knew the reason and knew what time you were coming in maybe they would accomodate.

My motto (especially on a cruise ship!) is "it doesn't hurt to ask!!"

She didn't do that last cruise but will ask this time. She did get permission to play at the craps table sitting on her scooter (for those who don't know, craps players are required to stand) but unfortunately couldn't see over the rail down to the table

Are the BJ tables continuous shuffle machines? What about the Fun 21 games?
Continuous shuffling machines (6 decks) for blackjack. I didn't pay attention to any of the other card games.

Thanks for the answer about the csm. Do they have higher minimum or single deck BJ tables that are shoe dealt?
Don't know. Although I play green, since DW doesn't, I sit together with her when I play blackjack before they open the craps table.

More power to you. Andy. If we want to stay married, Mike and I never sit together. That's because HE doesn't know how to play. LOL :D
