siam Posted March 20, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 20, 2005 This may sound like a foolish question but does anyone know if there is an AM/FM tuner in these Suites? I recently bought a wireless satellite radio and will take it along if anyone can give me a positive answer to this question.
HiltonHead Posted March 20, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 20, 2005 Something else you need to consider is where you will be crusing. Sirius and XM from what I understand only beam their signals to North America. If you cruise in Europe you would not get their service. Not sure about the Caribbean. Maybe you could check out their website or call for answers.
excitedofharpenden Posted March 20, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 20, 2005 siam, I know there is multi-disk CD and tape deck, but can't remember whether there is an AM/FM tuner or not. My gut feeling is no, because of the signal issue. Phil
GATKLT Posted March 20, 2005 #4 Share Posted March 20, 2005 We are in a Galaxy RS for an upcoming transatlantic, and we thought it might be nice to take a couple of DVDs to watch on a couple of the sea days. I know there is not a DVD player in the room, but can Galaxy provide one as a special request - or do we need to bring a portable DVD player of our own? Considering how common DVDs are these days, I would think the ship would be able to provide one - particularly for what is charged for a RS! cechase Posted March 21, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 21, 2005 We have been in Royal Suites on Galaxy's sister ships Mercury and Century, and there is a fm-am receiver, a vcr and a five cd player. But no DVD. In fact, on Mercury I had taken several DVDs with us and asked our butler if he could get us a dvd player, and the ultimate answer was no. I assume that Galaxy is the same. However, we just put on five cds with niel diamond and music for lover's CDs and our butler and room steward love it as we also do.
siam Posted March 21, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted March 21, 2005 Thanks for your responses. We have used the CD player in the past but I couldn't recall about the AM/FM tuner. By the way I spoke with a Sirius Customer Service Rep who said they guaranteed a signal up to 200 to 250 miles off the entire US coast but couldn't guarantee any further out. I just thought it would be worth the try.
