Luggage storage

We left a bag with Cunard in NY last week. Just as last time there was no-one there to collect the bag and in the end a baggage supervisor took it. Hope it gets back to the ship ok for our return! Oh and the price has gone up to $85 for up to 30 days!

Thank you, Mallorcasaint for updating on this service. We plan to use it in March and are happy it is still available. Not too happy about the price going up but it still is worth it to not have to 'lug the luggage'.

Hope you and your luggage get reunited! :-)

Mallorcasaint: Do you know if you can use OBC in payment for the luggage storage? Thanks for any insight you or someone else may regarding the OBC.

Our payment was added to our normal account so not sure if OBC can be used.

According to Cunard FAQs

"When on board credit is applied to your on board account, you may use this against any purchases on board.

This includes items purchased from any of the shops, in the spa and salon on treatments, on photography services, laundry, shore excursions (when booked on board and not prior to embarkation), beverages from the bar, restaurant cover charges and hotel and dining charges (automatic tips).

On board credit may not be used against the purchasing of shore excursions prior to embarkation, medical facilities, artwork, ad hoc gratuities, local currency, casino chips or credits or any other kind of gambling.

On board credit is non refundable"

So if you trust the accuracy of their website it seems that you can use your OBC to pay for the storage as it will just go onto your account and then be just another transaction. You might want to seek confirmation at the Purser's desk though.

Thank you very much, capnpugwash. Since their website seems to have a personal dislike of me  I will 'trust' but 'verify' their accuracy.;)

My wife and I are planning a TA on the QM2 from NY to Hamburg. We would like to be able to have Cunard store our formal suitcase in Southampton while we continue on to Hamburg and then return the suitcase to us when we return to Southampton for the return voyage 2 weeks later. I suppose we could disembark in Southampton with the suitcase and take a taxi to one of the storage facilities mentioned previously, but having Cunard handle it would certainly be more convenient. Has anyone had experience doing this?

After crossing on the QE the end of March, we left our 'formal' bag with Cunard. It cost $65 for up to 30 days, and when we boarded the QM2

on April 26th, it was in our cabin by 2 p.m.

We went to the purser's desk on the second day QE to ask about the service (I had read about it here on this thread before departing) and they put our

name on a list. The night before disembarking, we went back to the purser's desk and they gave us a special tag for our bag. We left it outside our cabin

that night.

It was well worth the $65, especially, since OBC covered it. :) We plan on using this service again next time we cross.

Warning: Some of the staff at the Purser's desk gave us different answers on what to do with our bag the last night. One said that we would have to go to the terminal and identify the bag after we disembarked. That would be impossible as we were self-embarking and would be off the ship before 7:30 a.m. to meet a friend. I knew that was not right from reading this thread, and, thankfully, had printed the thread and my husband took it to the purser's desk and showed them. The staff on duty at that time, said, the thread is correct and just leave the bag outside our door and no need to go to the terminal and identify the bag. It all worked out great...but Cunard should make sure that all staff at the purser's desk, are on the same page.

Very happy they provide this service.

Thanks for your input. I just hope that the fact we will be staying on the ship for 2 more days after Southampton doesn't make any difference to Cunard.

Sorry, can't help you with that part, but I see no reason why it would make a difference, as you will be returning to sail on the QM2.

Hope it all works out for you. It was such a relief not to have to take the big 'formal' bag off the ship and find a spot to store it for a month, the ability to leave it with Cunard and to find it in our cabin on boarding the QM2 was great.:)

Was just wondering if anyone has used this service within the last couple of months in Southampton and, if so, how it went?

Best regards,

seasidegal.

Planning two TA's in the spring (three weeks apart) and would like to use this service if it is still available. Has anyone used this service recently? Thanks.

We used the Cunard luggage storage service in June and it worked just as others have described it. We left 2 bags in Southampton and they we delivered to our stateroom on our return to Southampton. We plan to use this service on our next TA.

On the World Cruise the stored our luggage below

We asked Cunard prior to our TA voyage and the QM2 pursers office once on board about that and we were told that they will only store the luggage on board for those taking the entire World Cruise. Apparently, this service was once available to passengers on TA or WC segments, but that is no longer the case.

You might want to call Cunard directly and talk to someone in the luggage service department. I called just recently (July). They will pick up my luggage as I get off the Ocean Princess in Dover, June 4, 2015, transfer it to Southampton and store it until I board the QMII on July 2, 2015 (29 days). It is so much per weight, but not unreasonable for the convenience. So I would think that they can handle just holding it also. Princess and Cunard use the same company...just named differently on the two lines. I was told I can do the paper work before I leave on our trip or after I board.

Perhaps I misunderstood your previous rather short message. I thought you referring to actullay stroring your luggage on the ship rather than storing it in Southampton.

The recent poster on this old thread was asking about current availability of luggage storage on land (Southampton) in between 2 Cunard transatlantic voyages 3 weeks apart, not on the ship itself during a voyage. Several respondents gave advice and their recent experience in doing this, so it sounds to me as though the question is answered.:)
