Roll Call: NCL Star 10/08/05

We enjoyed this MexRiv cruise so much last year we can't wait to go again!! We went with group of 20+ in 2004 but are on our own this year. NCL staff was wonderful. Casino staff always asked where "she" was when one of us sat down alone as they enjoyed dealing with us as a couple. Daily news had FOD meetings posted and we met a number of other G/L cruisers. My partner and I are 55/45 and are hoping that we'll find other G/L's to have fun with.

My sister is turning 50 this year and really wanted to take a gay/lesbian cruise but found that the specialty nature of the cruise made it unafforable (it would be their first cruise). I spend a lot of time researching cruises and suggested she try a more "gay friendly" cruise as opposed to gay exlusive cruise. She just wants to feel comfortable "being with" her partner. I am sending her the link to this site tonight. Her birthday is the first of November and she has all but decided to not do it because she thinks the cost is prohibitive. When you and your partner took this cruise last year, were you able to be yourselves or did you still have to be "first cousins" on the cruise.

My partner & I have taken a nummber of cruises, always mainstream, and never had any problem with other passengers or cruise personel. We have always been open, holding hands, arms, the occassional quick kiss, never hiding who we are. We prefer to leave the hot & heavy stuff in the cabin, where we wish the "straights" would take theirs too. Tell your Sis to book her cruise and enjoy!! The option is Olivia, or one of the other G/L's cruises, where the prices are double, the ships are older, and at each port the locals know "who" we are as we off load for a day of sightseeing! No thank you!!! We also are very comfortable having our photos taken by shipboard personel. She need not be concerned, just enjoy and be who she is on the cruise just as she is in her day to day life.

Thanks so much for the quick response. I copied and pasted our brief conversation and e-mailed it to her. She should get it when she comes home from work tonight. I am so excited. This will be her first cruise and it will make it so much better for her to know that she is not alone and that she will be accepted. I did not realize that the Olivia ships were older. This is an added perk that she will be pleasantly surprised by. There are some magnificent ships out there right now and it will be great for her to be able to choose based on the ship, the itinerary and the price rather than to have to narrow her decision down to one or two options. This is so great. Thanks so much for the encouraging words. Look for her here as I am sure she will be participating in cruise critic pretty soon.

Glad that I can help! We love the cruise experience and I know that once your Sis takes a deep breath and just learns to enjoy cruising (it doesn't take long

:D) in the main stream, she'll(they'll) have a ball!!!! BTW....tell her to be sure to visit the Spa's. My partner & I usually get the "couples massage" at least once each trip. This is where BOTH of you are in the same room getting massages from separate therapists. Again, we always make them aware of us being a couple and not just friends, and then they relax too. Also, tell her that A LOT of the cruise personel are G/L too.
