Crown Question

We (me - 47, wife - 41, two kids 4 &11) are considering booking the 14 day cruise on the Crown that leaves Philadelphia next April. It's difficult to get a good read on this cruise, so maybe some of you can answer some pretty basic questions. We just came back from the 11-night Brilliance (RCCL) and had a great time. But with the kids the airfare to Miami from Toronto can get pretty expensive, so a cruise from Philly is very appealling since we can drive.

1) Will there be kids (other than ours) on this cruise?

2) what is the age group make up typically on this cruise at this time of year?

3) what is the casino like - is there a craps table and does it ever get busy? Same for blackjack?

4) Will it be lights out after 10PM or will there be some fun stuff going on to all hours of the morning?

Any info would really help. We know that this cruise has disappeared from online access but our TA's checking it out for us anyway.

Thx,

Mike

Mike - My wife and two-year old son just returned from a 14-day South America cruise on the Crown, which might be comparable to your trip. There were only 3 kids on the cruise (which was fine for us), and I suspect you may see a few more next April, since you're departing from the U.S. We liked the kids program on the ship, and as there were only two kids attending, our son got some special attention.

The average age on our cruise was probably 60 or 65, which is what we expected. I would guess the April cruise will probably have a few more kids and be younger, but keep in mind two weeks is a long time - and retirees have plenty of time!

I can tell you first-hand that the casino does not have a craps table - 3 blackjack tables, a poker table, roulette wheel and a baccarat table. It was never crowded on our cruise. There was plenty to keep you busy after dinner - movies, shows, disco, casino. We were never bored!
