jackdallas Posted September 6, 2011 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2011 Hi there-we are landing in Fort Lauderdale and cruising out of Miami the next day in October. Are we best to return the rental car to the Miami airport, or are there rental car locations closer to the POM. If there are can someone help me with the locations. Thanks
VideoTech Posted September 6, 2011 #2 Share Posted September 6, 2011 There is a Hertz Local office in downtown Miami - it appears to be the closest to the POM. There are also Enterprise and Budget offices in the area. Biggest problem with the local offices might be the hours they are open. It's very easy to return a car to the Airport rental location. All the flavors of car rental are together in a brand new rental center, and if you can't get a taxi there, you can jump on the rental bus, go back to the first terminal stop, and certainly get one there. The taxi to POM would be short, quick, and relatively cheap.
BillsMafiaBabe Posted September 6, 2011 #3 Share Posted September 6, 2011 If you return to the airport location, depending on who you rent with...some of the companies offer a free shuttle to the Port of Miami. We are using Alamo, and they have one, and it is my understanding that Dollar offers a shuttle as well. Im sure someone here will know who else offers a shuttle, if your not renting from either of those. We're doing this in about 12 days so I can let you know how it went if you'd like. Hope this helps. girlscruise2011 Posted September 6, 2011 #4 Share Posted September 6, 2011 I know Thrifty does the shuttle also. I have a car reserved with them for my return from POM to FLL in October.

CACkles Posted September 7, 2011 #7 Share Posted September 7, 2011 According to the web site for POM, there are 4 rental companies that are licensed to run shuttles: Dollar, Thrifty, Hertz and Alamo. For Hertz you could use the downtown location which is just a few minutes from the port. The other three would be the airport location, which is not very far either. Also, Enterprise now owns Alamo and National, so it is quite possible that all three could use the Alamo shuttle.
