Muster drill

Not to steal this post but

On Princess do you have to wear the Lifejacket for the muster drill or is it like HAL (should be) were you no longer have to?

Sorry OP!

Princess expects you to take your life jacket with you to the drill, but don't wear it to the drill. They do a life jacket demonstration toward the end of the drill and at that time you would don your life jacket, but not prior to then.

One thing I'd like to add to all the great information about muster drill. My wife and I like to get to our muster station about a half hour early. We're able to find a nice seat, and not have to deal with the last minute craziness in the hallways and public areas. After the drill, we wait about 15 minutes. Then I take the life jackets back to the cabin, and meet my wife up on deck for the sailaway.

Princess deninitely has the most civilized muster drill. I nearly passed out once on a Carnival ship in Miami. We were packed in like sardines on the outside deck on a hot muggy afternoon. The Princess way is so much better ... plus, I think it makes more sense. In an actual emergency, how many people are going to remember exactly where they stood on the outside deck. But, most people will remember that their muster station was in the casino, or the Princess Theatre.

I agree I much prefer the Princess type of muster drill, we have stood out side on deck on both Carnival and RCCL in the heat like sardines, seen people become overcome by the heat and closeness, staff counting heads and taking your name and cabin #s making sure everyone was there while waiting for passangers who think they don't need to come to muster there names being called over and over. Now we usually just cruise Princess and going to the lounge if you can find a seat early is much better.

They don't actually say they know if you go to the drill, they say they have a way to know you are not in your cabin during an emergency.

We do a lot of back to back cruises, you are not required to do the muster drill on the second one per Princess. So we usually go to the Skywalkers or pool side cafe and sit it out, we stay out of the way of those who are new to the ship and trying to find their cabin again.
