Zuiderdam

Recommended Posts

My husband and I have been on 15 cruises but never on Holland America. We are looking at a cruise on the Zuiderdam at the end of August. I have a few questions. Can you help me out?

1. How many formal nights for a 7 day cruise? How casual are the other nights?

2. How much are the cabana's on the private island?

3. Do they have a sail & sign card account like other cruise lines?

We have cruised on Carnival, RCCL, & Princess. We like them all but lean toward Princess. Will we be happy with Holland Amercia? Thanks for any input.

There will be 2 formal nights, 1 informal night and 4 casual nights.

Haven't booked a cabana in years - so not updated on that. The only reason we don't book them any more is we feel they are not worth the price. We don't drink sodas and eat very little salsa, etc.

Casual nights - a nice skirt and blouse or a nice pair of slacks for the lady. Men wear slacks and sport shirts.

Everything on the ship goes onto your shipboard account - just like the other cruise lines.

In response to your questions:

1. How many formal nights for a 7 day cruise? How casual are the other nights?

There are two formal nights, one informal night and 4 casual nights. No jeans or shorts are allowed on casual nights.

2. How much are the cabana's on the private island?

Cabanas are $219 for up to 4 guests

3. Do they have a sail & sign card account like other cruise lines?

Yes

It depends on what you like. In addition to HAL, we have sailed on Carnival, RCCL, Celebrity and NCL and like them all. If you are looking for a party atmosphere, HAL is probably not for you. HAL does draw an older crowd then Carnival and RCCL, but like the others has pasengers of all ages. HAL's daytime activities are more like NCL and RCCL's than Carnival's. The food is usally good, but, in my opinion, not as good as Celebrity's.
