Snorkeling

Anyone know of any good snorkeling spots in Progreso? Any good tour operators we could contact that are not through the ship? The ship does not offer any snorkeling excursions so wondering what the quality of snorkeling is. Has anyone snorkeled there and can you give me any insight?

The water in this area is not the Caribbean with crystal clear water. It's on the Gulf and very similar to the water on the US east coast. A bit murky.

Nice beach though.
