Just off the Jewel, in some ports we came in on starboard side in others on port side. They probably try to alternate so everyone gets to be on the pier side at least once. We were on the port side forward cabin 8008 and we were facing the pier departing and arriving into Fort Lauderdale. Short answer, either side is ok. As to exact cabins I think it's a preference thing. Aft balcony cabins seem to be great according to most, I'll let you know next year (Apr 05). The hump cabins seem to have a following too, guess the balconies there are a little bigger. 8008 was the most forward cabin on the port side. It was a nice room and blacony and there was very little noise or traffic because we were so far forward. It was a little bit of a hike to everything located aft but helps work off the calories
