fancruise Posted December 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2011 Would you recommend cruising the weekend of French quarter festival, if we came the wednesday before? My husband has never been to new Orleans. Thanks for your help.
NolaTravel Posted December 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2011 French Quarter Fest is great, but it gets REALLY crowded on the weekend. If your cruise departs Friday or Saturday, yeah, good call. Get here Wednesday, experience FQF on Thursday (when it's more local/less crowded), then on your way... If you do decide to come down, book your hotel NOW. French Quarter hotels will start booking up after the New Year. It's the biggest free music festival in the South, and the Fest has broken attendance records every year I've lived in New Orleans. (It's also why they added the extra day -- Thursday.) Just looked at the schedule -- fun lineup on Thursday. Also...the lines for food won't be too bad. If you like fish tacos, don't miss GW Fins booth. And anything Crescent Pie & Sausage is serving (but especially the black jambalaya).
