Greetings from North Carolina.

 

I'll be on a cruise Jan 22-29 and unfortunately, no stop in Progreso. But a day on Cozumel.

I would like to find a restaurant in town that will serve the whole deep fried snapper like I've enjoyed in Progreso. Not touristy. I thought since you get around and might suggest a place for such epicurian delight. My girl friend has heard alot about the dish and I'ld like her to try it too. We'll be in port on Friday the 27th. It would be a help if the waiters speak a little english since I really don't speak spanish other than hola, bueno tardes, etc. Of course I've been to Pancho's Back Porch and it was good, but looking for something more local.

Hoping the doctors will ok a trip to Merida this year. Bit of sever aortic stenosis and may need my third open heart surgery in the next 12 months.

And a happy 2012 to your, Sr Dawson! I do not know anything about Cozumel except that it is an island and was named after the Mayan word Cuzamil :) I apologize that I can't help this time around.
