OBC and Cruise Rewards

We have a fairly substantial amount of on board credit (OBC) for our upcoming cruise. I'm a little worried about being able to charge enough to spend it all. I know, a good problem to have right?

Anyway, it sounds like OBC cannot be used as a credit against the $12/day service charge, which is fine and understandable. All of our excursions are privately booked (not through NCL) so no opportunity for a big charge there. We are social drinkers, but even at cruise ship prices, it would take a lot of drinking.

So - I was wondering if we had unspent OBC remaining towards the end of the cruise, could we just buy extra Cruise Reward deposit certificates? In other words, does anyone know if there is a prohibition of applying OBC to the net $150 charge for the Cruise Reward ($250 charge less the $100 instant credit)?

To the extent it affects the answer, we book directly with our PCC at NCL so all the OBC is from NCL and not a travel agent or third party booking site.

Thanks.

OBC applies to any on board charges, including the DSC and any Cruise Rewards you may purchase. HTH

Reading the terms and conditions on the NCL website for some of the OBCs, it says the Amex suite promo OBC cannot be used for DSC. The Latitudes Insider Offer OBC also says it cannot be used for DSC. The Latitude Program Tier Graduation OBC is silent on the subject of the DSC saying only that it can be used for any "purchases" on board.

I'm going to assume the fact that the terms and conditions for the OBCs and the Cruise Rewards do not say anything one way or the other about using or not using OBC for "purchase" of a CR means it will probably be ok.

In the end, it may not even matter as we may not have any OBC left over near the end of the cruise - I'm just trying to figure out an option if we do. :)

Since you can use the $100 OBC they give you for buying a FCC on the FCC, I see no reason you can't use any other OBC you have been given. We have $900 OBC for our next 7 night cruise and plan to purchase at least one or two FCC's with it.
