Celebrity Mendenhall Glacier & Salmon Bake

I checked for the Sept 2 date on the Celebrity site and the only time we could book the Salmon Bake is 10 am. So I am rethinking the excursion. I can take the Mighty Great Tours Blue Glacier Bus for $16.00 and the salmon bake (not sure if it is the same one is $41.00 but there is not a way to select a time for either. How do I know I can get from one to the other and back to the ship? The cost for both per Celebrity is $84.75 vs. $57.00. Anyone had experience with MGT and how far is the salmon bake from the ship? Is it walking distance? Do the locals make fun of salmon bakes and should we just forget it?
