sunny days Posted January 31, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2012 Has anyone done any of the glass bottom boat tours in Bermuda? I see you can take tours through the ship and also through a company called Jessie James Cruises. We have never been on a glass bottom boat and wonder how well you can see the sea life. Is it really great or simply ok??? Any imput would be appreciated. :)

flowers44 Posted February 3, 2012 #3 Share Posted February 3, 2012 I've only been on one Glass Bottom Boat tour. I really can not remember where we did it. The one thing that I remember about the tour is that there was only about an area of about 3' x 6' in the center of the boat that we could see through. The seats were all around the outside of the boat and you had to get up and look down into the "Glass Area". The passengers had to take turns getting to see through the glass area. Also, be aware that the colors that I pictured were not there. The explaination was that the sun makes the colors and the sun doesn't shine through the depth of the water, thus everything is basically green or blue. Can't say I was too impressed with the experience. We did do the "Submarine Dive" in Hawaii and the same thing. Very limited color. Could see the fish but they were not the tropical colors I expected, like one would see in an aquarium.
