Bats in Rio Secreto caves?

Does anyone know first hand how the bat situation is in the Rio Secreto caves (Carnival's The Amazing Secret River excursion)? See none, a few, tons? Thank you in advance!

I just booked this excursion yesterday so I am curious as well.

DH and I did this excursion last year - didn't see not one bat. It is a beautiful tour - you will love it. Our pictures are awesome. You will not be able to take a camera but they take photos that are well worth purchasing. There is a place to change with lockers and they will fit you in a wet suit and water shoes. There was also food available afterward as well as a few lounge chairs to relax on. Hope this helps!

We saw 2 bats when we were there last week. There were probably more but our headlamps weren't bright enough to shine up into the high spots. We only saw the bats we did because the guide shone his light on them.

 

Cave is awesome.

 

Ferry ride to Playa del Carmen was ROUGH! They were handing out lots of barf bags that day. Make sure to take something for that!

Along your way through Rio Secreto, you may see a few of them. This is a huge system of passages with many entrances so the bats that live here occupy a vast area, that’s why although they´re in good condition and numbers, their presense will look almost imperceptible to our visitors. None of the bats living here are dangerous to humans.
